Lesly Merceron and Xavier Smith, known to the music world as L&X Music, have signed a worldwide deal with Missing Link Music. Lez and Xavier are the production duo responsible for J. Cole’s hit single “In the Morning” from his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story. The duo have also produced for major artists including Tony Yayo, Mims, and Skyzoo. Released through Roc Nation/Columbia records, Cole World: The Sideline Story reached #1 on Billboard’s Top 200. Based out of Brooklyn, Lez and Xavier are producers who are sure to continue making hits in 2012, making them a duo to watch.
BET’s “Black Girls Rock” featured music from two Missing Link Music writers. “Soldier”, co-written by Missing Link’s Emmanuel Karriem Riggins, originally appeared on Erykah Badu’s fourth studio album New Amerykah Part One (4th World War). The album debuted at #2 on Billboards 200 chart in 2008. “Daydreamin”, co-written by Missing Link’s Sean Hamilton, originally appeared on Tatyana Ali’s debut album Kiss the Sky.
“Free Me” co-written by Missing Link Music’s Eric “Kenya” Baker was used by ABC’s TV show “Brothers and Sisters” in the promo commercial. “Free Me” originally appeared on Joss Stone’s 2009 album Colour Me Free. Colour Me Free was Stone’s fourth studio album, debuting in the US Billboard 200 top 10.
“How I Know”, co-written by Missing Link Music’s Grammy winning guitarist Chalmer “Spanky” Alford, was used in the film Honey 2. “How I Know” was originally recorded by recording artists RH Factor and Chalmer “Spanky” Alford in 2003.
