Missing Link is one of the leading independent music publishing companies offering fast, efficient and transparent licensing and royalty collection for songwriters and copyright holders. Our custom-tailored royalty and licensing system was developed in-house, and is based on the global CWR-based data exchange format embraced by music and media companies around the globe. Whether you need a royalty advance, comprehensive international royalty administration or help getting your songs commercially placed with artists, in films or on TV–Missing Link is there for you.
Founded by JD Dallam and Bill Stafford in 1996, Missing Link was founded with the vision of offering the songwriter a modern music publishing and rights management alternative. Utilizing favorable rights-holder terms in its agreements and licenses, Missing Link was launched to place the songwriter’s needs first–be it royalty collection, international administration or creative support.
As Sony Music and BMG vets respectively, JD and Bill began working with the family of songwriters in the Raphael Saadiq/Tony Toni Tone camps in the mid 90s. UK industry veteran Tony Hinds joined the team in 2002 helping to develop and build the infrastructure for Missing Link’s licensing and royalty collection system. Now, a decade and a half later, Missing Link has rapidly expanded into a world-class, global and modern music publishing/rights management enterprise.
JD Dallam graduated at the top of his class, earning a Bachelor of Music in Music Management at Hartt School of Music. Afterward he immediately moved to New York and landed a position as an advertising copy writer at Sony Music, all while moonlighting as a session guitarist and singer/songwriter. In 1994 a songwriter who had written hits with R&B singer Joe requested JD’s help with setting up his music publishing and completing his US and international royalty collection. Missing Link Music was born. Hundreds of hits later, Missing Link has grown to become one of the leading music publishing and copyright administration companies in the U.S.

Kaitlyn Sugarman grew up in Newtown, Connecticut where her love for the music realm was rooted alongside poetry, a piano and a guitar. That grew to the University of Rhode Island where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor in Arts & Sciences. Kaitlyn involved herself with the campus radio station, the student entertainment committee and later landed an artist manager position in New York City, where she currently resides. Growing up in New Jersey, Victoria Romano was inspired by the music she heard from her grandmother and mother, who were singers. This drove her to pursue her own career in music as a member of the musical group Capricorn. As a graduate of The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, Victoria continues to immerse herself in the music industry by finding a home at Missing Link. Victoria’s passion and experience as a singer/songwriter proves valuable when identifying new talent for the A&R team. She aspires to give caring support and guidance to the talented roster at Missing Link Music Publishing.
Lauren Jefferson grew up as the friend “always listening to bands no one’s heard of—yet.” She studied piano throughout grade school and has dabbled in most other instruments. However, an obsession for weather and news sent Lauren to Rutgers University. She received her Bachelor’s in Journalism and Media Studies with Meteorology minor, but more importantly she met college radio. As a music director and on-air DJ/host, Lauren developed a passion for independent music and emergent scenes. Combine that with early memories of listening to records with Dad, and it’s no surprise that Lauren spent nearly a decade working in two legendary record stores: Vintage Vinyl in NJ and Turntable Lab in NYC. She has also done work relating to social media, marketing, live music, publicity, and blogging. Lauren is excited to bring her versatility, drive, and genuine passion for music to the Missing Link Music team and roster.
